Caption: Concorde in flight. Front section of the supersonic passenger aircraft, 'Concorde'. The nose of Concorde is very sharply pointed to reduce drag at supersonic speeds. The nose section moves downwards on taking off and landing, to afford the pilot a better view of the runway. Concorde made its first commercial flight in 1976 and is being retired from service in 2003.
