Caption: MODEL RELEASED. Aircraft engine check. Technician visually inspects the internal structure of an aircraft's jet engine using an endoscope or boroscope. An endoscope is a thin, flexible tube which contains optical fibres and which can be fed into inaccessible areas. Light is passed down some of the fibres in the tube to illuminate the interior of the aircraft. The technician can see light which has passed back up the tube.
