Caption: The Antiproton Accumulator (AA) at CERN, the European particle physics laboratory outside Geneva, is designed to store & concentrate successive bunches of antiprotons until they form a beam dense enough to be injected into the Super- Proton-Synchrotron (SPS) accelerator. In the SPS, protons & antiprotons circle in opposite directions until they reach high energy & are brought to collide head-on.
