Caption: Typhoon fighter plane cockpit screen display. This is a simulation of the data for a pilot's head-up display (HUD). This lets the pilot see information without looking down from the windscreen. Airspeed (upper left), compass heading (upper centre), the artificial horizon (centre) and rate of climb and descent (vertical bar at centre right) are seen. The Eurofighter Typhoon, developed as the most advanced fighter jet in the world, is flown by a computerised flight control system. A range of simulators were extensively used to design and test the jet. The Eurofighter is a joint project between the UK, Germany, Italy, and Spain. The Eurofighter Typhoon will enter service in 2003.
