Caption: Research submarine. Remora 2000 two-seater submarine being used for archaeological research. It is carrying a metal cage that will serve as a reference point to accurately map the layout of the site from photographs (this is termed photogrammetrics). This Remora 2000 is owned by Comex. The clear acrylic bubble (upper centre) is 9. 5 centimetres thick. The submarine can manoeuvre with five thrusters. Its on-board computer can automatically maintain a fixed depth or heading. It can operate at depths as great as 610 metres, for up to 10 hours. Photographed off the Mediterranean coast of France.
