Caption: MODEL RELEASED. Research submersibles. Remora 2000 two-seater submarine (right) and Super Achille remotely operated vehicle (ROV) carrying out archaeological research. The ROV is taking a positioning beacon from the Remora for placement on an ancient wreck. This will aid in building up an accurate 3-dimensional map of the site. Both vehicles seen are owned by Comex. The Remora submarine can manoeuvre with five thrusters, allowing it to hover in place without anchoring. It can operate at depths as great as 610 metres. The Super Achille is operated from the surface via a cable (upper left). Photographed off the Mediterranean coast of France.
