Caption: MODEL RELEASED. Newtsuit rescue diver from the French Navy. The Newtsuit is a purpose built scuba diving apparatus, which can descend to depths of up to 250 metres. It is designed for rapid response in order to assist in the rescue of submarines. The Newtsuit can be deployed on a stricken submarine within a day, and provide much needed oxygen and food supplies until the rescue submarines arrive. It is attached to its descent cage (not seen) by an umbilical cord. Photographed in the Mediterranean Sea.
