Caption: Stadium in wind tunnel study. Technician monitors the climate created by a wind tunnel around and in a model of the future Stadium of France. An anemo- meter gauge measures wind force near the stadium grandstands. Testing the stadium architecture in this way enables the structure to be designed so that even a football is unaffected by outside winds. This research is conducted at Centre Scientifique et Technique des Batiments (CSTB), Nantes, France. The Centre can accommodate models of whole towns at a scale of 1/100 or 1/200. High rise offices, bridges, and Ariane space rockets, can be tested in winds more than 200 km per hour. Rain, snow and intense heat can also be simulated.
