Caption: Shopping centre architecture. This is the exterior of the Selfridges department store in Birmingham, England. The curved surface is covered in 15,000 of these 60-centimetre-wide aluminium discs. The four-storey-high store is 37 metres high. Designed by architects Future Systems, the project started in 1999, and the building was completed and opened in 2003. It forms part of the Bullring shopping centre.
