Caption: Grand Mosque of Hassan the II in Casablanca, Morocco. This mosque is the second largest in world and at 200 metres high, the minaret (right) is the tallest in the world. The mosque can house 25,000 worshippers and 80,000 more can stand in the courtyard. The building is known as the 'floating mosque' due to its glass floor that reveals the ocean and the roof that rolls back to reveal the sky. Viewed from above, the mosque appears to float on the edge of the ocean. The Grand Mosque of Hassan the II took 12 years to build and is thought to have cost 500 million British sterling, mostly paid for from public subscriptions.
