Caption: Eden Project construction. Construction worker holding blue prints for the framework of the Eden Project domes, in Cornwall, UK. The domes were built between 1997 and 2001, and the hexagons on the blueprint now support plastic membranes that allow the domes to function as the world's largest greenhouses. The main dome is 240 metres long, 110 metres wide and 50 metres high. Over 46,000 scaffolding poles were used to construct the domes, another world record. The domes contain different plant biomes (humid tropics and warm temperate) and a huge variety of plants. The Eden Project was designed by the architectural firm Nicholas Grimshaw and Partners.
