Caption: Pharmaceutical NMR display. Two-dimensional NMR (nuclear magnetic resonance) spectrometer display for a new drug molecule. The results are in the form of a contour plot. The display has intensity (colour) plotted against two frequency axes, and has the typical symmetry of a 2-D NMR display. It is symmetric about the lower left to upper right diagonal, and shows the distribution of hydrogen atoms in the molecule. 2-D NMR spectroscopy is useful for analysing the interactions between atoms in a molecule. NMR spectroscopy measures the resonance between an applied magnetic field and the magnetic moment of a molecule's atoms.
