Caption: MODEL RELEASED. Oats quality control. Miller checking the quality of rolled oats, a wholemeal food. Oats are the seeds of the oat plant, Avena sp.. Rolled oats contain the entire kernal of the seeds and are comprised of carbohydrate (about 64%), protein (12%), fat (5%) and fibre (12-14%). Oats are also good sources of vitamin B1 or thiamine. Oats can be used to make porridge, oatcakes or bread. Oats are generally grown in cooler, wetter climates than other cereals, such as wheat and rice. Photographed in Germany.
