Caption: Testing military equipment. Military scientist uses a weight-sensing platform to assess the ergonomics of the French FELIN infantry system. Improving military technology means that soldiers are carrying a wider range of equipment, including sensors, targetting devices and navigation aids. Reducing the weight of components and making sure the load is evenly balanced is important to ensure that this does not affect soldiers' mobility. The FELIN system is planned to be deployed from 2006.
