Caption: Testing military equipment. Soldier running while equipped with the French FELIN infantry system. Improving military technology means that soldiers are carrying a wider range of equipment, including sensors, targetting devices and navigation aids. The extra weight and bulk could reduce soldiers' balance and mobility. This can be prevented by reducing the weight of components and making sure the load is evenly balanced. Deployment of the FELIN system is scheduled to begin in 2006.
