Caption: Paper making, historical artwork. These tanks are used to wash and shred cloth rags. After shredding the rags will be boiled with caustic soda to further breakdown their fibres. The resulting pulp will be beaten to reduce its water content and then put through rollers to form paper. Engraving taken from "Grands Hommes et Grands Faits de l'Industrie" (1880).
