Caption: Child miner. Historical engraving of a girl hauling a truck of coal through a mine. The Industrial Revolution in England led to this type of child labour in the 19th century. Children as young as 6 years old were expected to haul trucks of coal weighing up to 250 kg underground in a coal mine for up to 14 hours per day. Illustration taken from a government report of 1842.
