Caption: Disused towers at a former rock salt mine. Rock salt, or halite, is the mineral form of sodium chloride. Deposits were discovered here in 1893 by prospectors looking for coal. The deposits formed during the Mesozoic era, about 225 million years ago. Photographed in Zurzach, Switzerland.
