Flying costume. Historical artwork of a person wearing a flying costume about to leap into the air. The costume comprises elaborate wings attached to the back of the suit, and by strings to the arms. An umbrella-shaped canopy protrudes from the hat and beneath the figure is suspended a basket, perhaps containing ballast.
