Caption: Mauretania. The four screw propellers of the liner Mauretania before its launch at Liverpool, Britain, in 1906. These propellers made the Mauretania capable of travelling at 27 knots. The Mauretania held the trans-Atlantic speed record for two decades. This distinction, known as the 'Blue Riband', was greatly sought after by the various liner companies.
