Caption: Great Western steamship, historical illustration. This ship, designed by the British engineer Isambard Kingdom Brunel and launched in 1837, was the first steamship in regular transatlantic service. It was 62 metres long and propelled by paddle wheels driven by a two-cylinder steam engine.
