Caption: In 1894, Italian scientist Guglielmo Marconi (1874-1937) began experimenting with electromagnetic waves. Imitating Hertz, he experimented with waves concentrated by a curved reflector. This 1896 beam transmitter succeeded in sending signals more than two miles.
