Caption: Sulphuric acid manufacture. Engraving of a galley furnace used in the production of sulphuric acid. The technique involved heating antimony sulphide, sulphur and potassium nitrate together in flasks (C). The engraving is taken from Les Merveilles de l'Industrie by L.Figuier, published in Paris, 1873.
