Caption: 15th-century astrology manuscript. A 15th-century German astrology book with articles relating to the computing of the calendar, medical issues and other subjects mainly concerning the influence of the planets on human affairs. This illustration of an astrologer or "doctor of physic" at work heads a chapter seeking to explain the distinction between the heavens and the firmament. The volume was composed in Bavaria in the second half of the 15th century and once belonged to the Convent of Discalced Hermits of St Augustine in Vienna.
