Caption: Drawings of Venus, made in 1726 by the Italian astronomer Francesco Bianchini (1662-1729), and published in La Planete Venus by Camille Flammarion (1842–1925). The observations are dated 18 February (left) and 20th February (right). Biachini has shown the change in features on Venus, numbered 3, 4 and 5. At the time, it was not known what the surface of Venus looked like. Now, it is known that Venus is covered in clouds and surface features are not visible.
