Caption: WW2 poison gas investigation. Members of the special investigative commission at a Nazi concentration camp in Poland, on 30 January 1945, examining poison gas canisters used to kill prisoners in gas chambers. During the Second World War (1939-1945), Hitler's Nazi Germany established several concentration camps in Poland, several of which were used as death camps to kill millions of Jews and other prisoners. One of the poison gases used was Zyklon-B. The Polish camps were liberated by the USSR before the end of the war. The evidence gathered was used at the Nuremburg Trials, where many German soldiers and leaders were sentenced to death for crimes against humanity.
