Caption: Pandorina. Light micrograph of a cluster of cells of Pandorina. Pandorina is an organism classified either as a flagellate (Protozoan) or green algae. The cells are spherical, each containing green chloroplasts and hair-like flagellae (not visible here) for mobility. Pandorina forms colonies consisting of 4-32 cell clusters with no central space. The cells become linked by fine cytoplasmic connections, and function as a primitive type of organism. Pandorina occurs in freshwater lakes and ponds. Magnification: x170 at 35mm size.
