Caption: Pandorina morum. Light micrograph of a cluster of cells of Pandorina morum. Pandorina is an organism classified either as a flagellate (Protozoan) or green algae. The cells are spherical, each containing green chloroplasts and hair-like flagellae (faintly visible) for mobility. Pandorina forms colonies consisting of between 4 and 32 cells with no central space. The cells become linked by fine cytoplasmic connections, and function as a primitive type of organism. Pandorina occurs in freshwater lakes and ponds. Phase contrast. Magnification: x400 at 35mm size.
