Caption: Light micrograph of the protozoan Condylostoma sp., a ciliate of the order Heterotricha. Condylostoma species are quite omnivorous, using their cilia to capture algae, bacteria, ciliates (including members of their own species), flagellates and even multicellular animals such as rotifers. There are numerous species of Condylostoma, varying in size between 0.1 to 1 millimetre in length. Magnification: x80 at 35mm size.
