Caption: Light micrograph of Foraminifera. These organisms live in shells consisting entirely of an organic substance secreted by the unicellulate or are strengthened by adhering chalk, sand, or spicules from sponges. The shells are very varied comprising either one or several chambers and with the size and arrangement of the pores and the surface sculpturing being different between animals. Foraminifera are found exclusively in the sea or salt water lakes. Magnification: x15 (35mm size).
