Caption: Plumose sea anemones (Metridium senile). These anemones attach themselves to a solid substrate with one end of their cylindrical bodies. The other end has a central mouth surrounded by venomous tentacles, which paralyse the small marine animals that the anemones feed on. The prey is then pushed through the mouth into a digestive cavity. Photographed in the Gulf of Maine, USA.
