Caption: Snakelocks anemone (Anemonia viridis) on the sea bed. This anemone is distinguished by its long flowing tentacles, which are green in colour with purple tips. The colour is due to chlorophyll, produced by algae that are found in the anemone's tissues. The algae require sunlight to grow, so the anemone is found in sunny pools. This anemone feeds on small fish and crustaceans, and captures its food in its stinging tentacles. Photographed in the Mediterranean Sea.
