Caption: Alicia anemone (Alicia mirabilis). This is seen in its dormant state, with its tentacles coiled up to form a rounded mass. It opens up at night to feed. An anemone is a sessile (anchored) marine invertebrate that uses its tentacles to sting fish and other marine prey. This food is then carried to its mouth at the base of its tentacles (not seen). This anemone is seen attached to a piece of sea grass. Photographed off Levant Island, France, in the north-western Mediterranean Sea.
