Caption: Soft coral (Dendronephthya sp.). Red tentacles of the coral's polyps sifting food particles from the water. Most polyps feed on minute animals (zooplankton), but Dendronephthya sp. polyps feed on phytoplankton (tiny plants and algae). Soft corals are produced by polyps around their colonies for protection and support.
