Caption: Flatworm. Coloured light micrograph of a planarian flatworm (class: Tubellaria). Its head is on the far left. This flatworm can grow to nearly 10 centimetres. It moves on a layer of mucus in the manner of slugs, and is nocturnal to avoid the drying heat of the day. This flatworm eats a variety of forest floor matter, although it has no anus, and must regurgitate any indigestible material. Planarian flatworms are known for their ability to regenerate missing body parts when they are cut in half.
