Caption: Gastrotrich worm. Coloured scanning electron micrograph (SEM) of a gastrotrich worm (Acanthodasys sp.). This worm lives on sandy beaches, grazing on bacteria and protozoa. Gastrotrichs possess adhesive glands that enable them to glue themselves tightly to grains of sand. They also possess a tough body wall adapted to withstand collisions with moving sand grains. Magnification: x260 at 6x7cm size. x425 at 4x5"
