Caption: Derocheilocaris typica. Coloured scanning electron micrograph (SEM) of the beach-dwelling crustacean Derocheilocaris typica of the sub-class Mystacocarida. Members of Mystacocarida are the most primitive of all crustaceans, and live in coastal groundwater and in spaces between large grains of sand on the beach. They are segmented with appendages which they use to push their way between grains of sand. They possess four eyes. Magnification: x340 at 5x7cm size. x600 at 4x5"
