Caption: Shrimp eggs. Macrophotograph of eggs of the coldwater (or pink) shrimp (Pandalis borealis). This shrimp is widely used for food. Traditionally the shrimp are caught with trawlers, but these eggs are being raised in the Aquaculture Laboratory at the University of California, Davis, USA. Farming the shrimp would greatly reduce the cost of their production while helping to protect the wild population from overfishing.
