Caption: Caribbean spiny lobster (Panulirus argus) in a defensive position. This lobster inhabits the tropical waters of the western Atlantic Ocean, including the Caribbean Sea. It is primarily nocturnal, hiding by day in a crevice or cave. At night it emerges to feed. It is a scavenger, feeding on carrion, shellfish and plant material. It migrates in response to the seasons, travelling in large groups between deep and shallow water and along the coast. The spiny lobster can reach up to 50 centimetres in length.
