Caption: Common shore crab (Carcinus maenas) carrying eggs on the underside of her abdomen. This crab can produce up to 185,000 eggs. It inhabits a wide range of habitats along the coast and can tolerate a range of water salinity and temperature. It is an invasive species in many parts of the world, but is native to the British Isles. Photographed in Devon, UK.
