Caption: As its name suggests, the Elegant Crab Spider (Xysticus elegans) is crab-like in appearance. Like crabs, the crab spider tends to walk sideways or backwards. These spiders do not spin webs. They will wait on low vegetation or among debris on the ground and ambush their prey as it comes by. The one in this photograph is waiting for a bee or fly to land on a daisy.
