Caption: Florida spiny lobster (Panulirus argus) on a coral reef. Also known as the Caribbean spiny lobster, this species of lobster has spines covering its carapace, which protect it from predators. It is nocturnal and is found in tropical waters of the the Atlantic Ocean, Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico. It feeds on gastropods, chitons, bivalves, carrion, sea urchins, worms, crustaceans and some types of sea vegetation. Photographed at the Looe Key National Marine Sanctuary, Florida, USA.
