Caption: Woodlouse head, coloured scanning electron micrograph (SEM). This view shows the two antennae (sensory structures branching off the head, upper left and upper right), and the mouthparts (lower centre). Woodlice (order Isopoda) are terrestrial crustaceans that require damp conditions in order to breathe properly. They feed on dead wood and plants, performing a vital role in the decay cycle. Magnification: x70 when printed 10cm wide.
