Caption: False-colour scanning electron micrograph (SEM) of a silverfish in its last larval stage. The silverfish (Lapisma saccharina) is a primitive insect of the Thysanura order (bristletails). It is often found in houses, and may often be seen feeding on domestic groceries. The adult is about 1cm long, deriving its common name from the glistening scales that cover its body. Magnification x50 at 6x7cm size.
