Caption: Orchid mantis (Theoprobus elegans) specimen. This insect relies on its resemblance to an orchid flower to ambush the flies, moths and other flower insects it eats. The mimicry of plants by animals is called phytomimesis. Male orchid mantises are only half the size of the females, which can grow to 6 centimetres in length. The orchid mantis is found throughout Malaysia.
