Caption: Macrophotograph of a bed bug Cimex sp. (probably Cimex lectularius. A regular diet of blood is necessary for the bed bug to reach maturity. It is obtained by Cimex's stylet, its cutting & sucking organ. A bed bug bites several times in succession, producing a number of swellings which are only usually detected after they have retreated to their day-time resting places - mattresses, skirting boards or tears in furniture. Magnification: x2.5 at 35mm size.
