Caption: Male broad-bodied chaser (Libellula depressa). This dragonfly is found from mid-May to early August and reaches a length of 3 centimetres. It spends long periods on a perch from which it darts out to collect prey - hence it is often known as a darter. Its large compound eyes and mobile head gives it a wide field of vision.
