Caption: Bush cricket. Insect-eye view of a bush cricket (Tettigonia sp.) on a stone. This insect inhabits dry grassland and low vegetation in Britain and Europe. It has an omnivorous diet, but mainly feeds on other insects. It has extremely long and powerful rear legs, which it uses for jumping away from predators. This cricket sings to attract a mate by rubbing its wings together.
