Caption: Cricket (order Orthoptera). Crickets are usually omnivorous, living in burrows or amongst vegetation. Male crickets make a chirping noise by rubbing their front wings together. This is known as stridulation. Females possess long, needle-like ovipositors, which they use for depositing eggs in soil and crevices. Photographed in Namibia.
