Caption: Larva of the potato-beetle, Leptinotarsa decem- lineata, feeding on a potato leaf. When mature, this larva will metamorphose into an adult beetle. Living on potato plants, amongst other plants, both the larva and beetle forms can cause wide- spread crop damage if their numbers are not controlled. Leptinotarsa decemlineata is thus of economic importance as a spoiler of crops.
